Installation of BYOD Devices
NOTE: While BroadVoice's goal is to make all BYOD installations as easy as possible, the BYOD option is intended for advanced users. BroadVoice can not provide full technical support for these devices. If your device is not working as expected, you may need to contact the device manufacturer for technical support. For many devices, BroadVoice provides online instructions and tips. Please refer to this information before proceeding. With BYOD devices the user is responsible, under the BroadVoice Terms of Service, for any misuse of the account.

ZyXEL Prestige 2000W_V.2

BEFORE YOU BEGIN, please note the following:

  • The appropriate version of the firmware needed is WV.00.01. If you do not yet have this firmware installed, please do so before configuration. Firmware is available within the Support section of the ZyXEL web site: www.ZyXEL.com

  • Check of the version of the Presige phone you are using. If using a v.1 phone, see the following BYOD instructions.

  • If the ZyXEL Prestige 2000W_v2 phone key pad is locked, press and hold the # key for 3 seconds or until the phone icon is displayed.

  • The ZyXEL Prestige 2000W_v2’s default network mode is DHCP. If you require either STATIC or PPPoE connection type you must:

    1. On the phone, press the Menu key.

    2. Scroll down to #4 Net Settings and press Select.

    3. Select #1 Network Mode

    4. Scroll down to either Fixed IP or PPPoE and press Select.

    5. The phone will display “Ok”.

    6. If you selected Fixed IP, select and enter in the appropriate entry locations your IP Address, Subnet Mask and Gateway.

      OR

      If you selected PPPoE, select and enter in the appropriate entry locations your PPPoE Username and PPPoE Password

CONFIGURATION:

The following screen images represent a recommended configuration of the ZyXEL Prestige 2000W_v2 for use on the BroadVoice VoIP service. These parameters need to be manually entered using the device’s web server GUI as no auto-configuration method is not yet available.

  1. From the phone’s display, select Menu by pressing the Left soft key.

  2. Using the Up/Down arrow buttons scroll and hi-light ‘Information’ and press the Select key.

  3. Scroll to IP Address and press the Select key.

  4. In an Internet browser on a PC connected to the same network enter the IP address displayed on the ZyXEL Prestige 2000W_v2.

  5. When prompted enter the User Name ‘ZyXELadmin’ and password ‘1234’ as illustrated below. The Password will be represented by ****.



  6. The following information will display in your browser.

  7. From the Left panel, select Network to display the following screen.

  8. Select the appropriate network connection type for your network: STATIC, DHCP, OR PPPOE.

    • If you are using a STATIC connection, enter all network parameters.
      • Enter the DNS Server IP as 147.135.0.6
      • Enter the Secondary DNS Server IP as 147.135.8.6

    • If you are using a DHCP connection, select the radial button for Manual DNS Type, click Apply, and enter 147.135.0.6 as the Manual DNS IP.

    • If you are suing a PPPoE connection, you must enter the PPPoE User/Login Name and PPPoE Password provided by your DSL Internet service provider.

  9. Click the Apply button.

  10. Click SIP in the Left panel.

  11. Complete all SIP proxy parameters as illustrated below with your BroadVoice 10-digit number in the SIP URI and Register Username boxes. Enter your BroadVoice provided authentication password as the Registrar Password. Visit the account tab in your BroadVoice portal to obtain your password.

  12. Click the Apply button.

  13. Click NAT TRVSL in the Left panel.

  14. Using the drop down menu for Select Type, select By Outbound Proxy.

  15. In to the Outbound Proxy Server Address box as illustrated above, enter which ever proxy is closer (has a shorter ping time). You may leave the remaining parameters as set by default..

    Choose one from:
    • proxy.lax.broadvoice.com
    • proxy.dca.broadvoice.com
    • proxy.mia.broadvoice.com
    • proxy.atl.broadvoice.com
    • proxy.chi.broadvoice.com
    • proxy.bos.broadvoice.com
    • proxy.nyc.broadvoice.com


  16. Click the Apply button.

  17. Click on PHONE in the Left panel.

  18. Enter the parameters as indicated:
  19. Click the Apply button.

  20. Leave the PHONE BOOK screen as set by default.

  21. Your ZyXEL Prestige 2000W_v2 phone should already have the appropriate Wireless Settings for access to the network.

  22. Leave the TOS/DIFFSERV screen as set by default.

  23. Leave the System screen as set by default.

  24. Leave the S/W Update screen as set by default. Auto-provisioning should be set to "Disable".

  25. Power cycle you phone by pressing and holding the red power OFF button for three (3) seconds. Then press and hold the red power button for two (2) seconds until the device restarts.

    Monitor the registration process on the display screen. The ZyXEL Presitge 2000W_v2 will first Associate with your access point, display the AP SSID and then the phone’s IP Address.

    Shortly thereafter, the phone will display Registered . When registered on the BroadVoice network, you will ready to make and receive calls.
