With BroadVoice your favorite relatives, close friends or important
customers in another part of the United States can now call
you as a local call with a BroadVoice
Alternate Number.
An Alternate Number is an inexpensive second or third number
that rings to your primary BroadVoice line. If you choose an
Alternate number in the local calling area of your family, friends
or clients, they can call you for their cost of a local call.
It’s like having multiple email addresses that point or
forward your mail to one primary email address that you do answer.
Let’s say you live in Boston, but your good friend lives
in Los Angeles. You can add an Alternate L.A. area number so
that your friend can ring your BroadVoice line in Boston with
just a local call rate. Your friends and family will love it!
We also offer UK Alternate
Numbers for those with
friends and family in the United Kingdom (separate charges and
start-up fees apply).
Monthly Costs and Billing Each Alternate number costs just $1.95
per month and can be added at any time by accessing
the features tab on your BroadVoice Portal. The cost in the
first month is pro-rated depending on when in your billing
cycle you add the Alternate number. So, if you add it on the
15th day of your billing cycle, you would be charged 98 cents
in that month, and $1.95 thereafter. There is also a one-time
activation charge of $9.95 to link each new Alternate number.
Alternate numbers are activated immediately.
BroadVoice Alternate Numbers are better
than Traditional Toll Free Numbers
BroadVoice Alternate Numbers are better than Toll Free/800
numbers because you keep your costs down. You pay only a flat
rate of $1.95 per month no matter how many calls you receive
and no matter how long each call lasts. A traditional phone company
Toll Free/800 number is not toll free to you. You would be paying
for every call and every minute of every call. If you have clients
that call you they’ll love this because it keeps your costs
low.

- You must already be a BroadVoice account holder with an active
primary number. There’s no sense in having a secondary
number if you do not already have a primary number. If you do not already have a BroadVoice number, Sign Up!
- Log in to your Account Portal
- Click on the Account tab of the BV Account Portal and select "Change Number."
- Select the area code, region and number of your choice.
- Spread the news to family, friends, and clients that you
have another BroadVoice number in their local calling area.
